POWER WORD SCULPTURES
Media: Foam and acrylic paint, hot glue, double sided tape
Purpose: To express our chosen power word/phrase in a 3D visual way that represents the emotive quality or the correlating imagery of the particular chosen word.
Step 1: Choose your WORD or PHRASE
a. What’s the one key area of your life, that if you put purpose, passion and action to, would move you to a better place by the year’s end? Only choose one area. If you actually make all the change and improvement you need before the year is finished you can give yourself a well-deserved break, or choose another word!
b. If you had this change in your life, what would your life look like?
c. Write a list of positive words and phrases that embody for you the quality, activities, knowledge and actions of this key area.
d. Choose one simple word or phrase that sums up this energy for you. This is now your POWER WORD.

Step 2: Composition Sketches
Look at typography inspiration here for font style ideas!
Complete a Composition sketch page of 4 ideas that you could explore with your chosen power word.
Step 3: Complete a FINAL PLAN of your sculpture on A4 paper. This is a detailed drawing so you know how to begin.
Staple this FINAL PLAN to your composition plan paper.
Think about:
-changing the size of letters.
-how it will be hung (flat on a wall, hanging from string, standing etc)
-how will you create contrast???
Requirements for your POWER WORD SCULPTURE:
a. at least 2 layers of FOAM must be used
b. must be legible/readable
c. must incorporate at least 1 color (black and white are not colors)
