Singaporean Creative Director Thomas Yang from 100copies has explored landmarks around the world with his trademark bicycle tire prints. These prints merge his passion for cycling and architecture and include depictions of the Eiffel Tower, the Tower Bridge, and China’s Forbidden City. By painting the rubber with black pigment, the surface with it's intricate and complex textures can be imprinted onto the canvas. (via This is Colossal)

This might be a first where pop-up books and animation using paper comes together in a single piece. Revolution is an animated short by photographer Chris Turner, paper engineer Helen Friel and animator Jess Deacon that explores the life cycle of a single drop of water through the pages of an elaborate pop-up book. The book contains nine scenes that were animated using 1,000 photographic stills shot over the course of a year. (via This is Colossal)
Fantastical landscapes by painter Shirin Sahba Shirin Sahba was born in India to an architect and graphic designer, spending her adolescent years surrounded by the pristine azures of the Mediterranean in Israel, and visiting 25 countries before she was sixteen. It was travel that compelled her to paint and her palette was laden with the colours, the tones, the contours and textures of the vibrant landscapes she was privileged to encounter and the vivid personalities who negotiated those spaces. (website) She has lived here in Beijing for the past 5 years and continues to create colorful patterned work that transports viewers into her world of fantasy, culture and travel. Pop-up card designer Peter Dahmen While studying graphic design in college, German artist Peter Dahmen was given the assignment of creating a 3D object out of paper. He soon realized a small problem. Regardless of what he designed, there was no safe way to transport it to class on his daily train commute. Instead of risking damage to his project, Dahmen devised a way to make his paper sculpture fold flat like a pop-up book, a fateful decision that changed the course of his life. He enjoyed the challenge so much that be became obsessed with creating more elaborate designs, eventually leading to a full-time career as a paper engineer.
Filmmaker Christopher Helkey recently sat down with Dahmen as he demonstrates some of his more incredible paper sculptures, many more of which you can see on his YouTube channel. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/11/spectacular-paper-pop-up-sculptures-designed-by-peter-dahmen/ ...To pick up autumn leaves and be creative!Leaf Beast is a recent project by freelance illustrator and artist Baku Maeda that seemingly brings dead leaves back to life. Maeda took advantage of the warped shape and veiny structure of dried magnolia leaves and made only minimal cuts to create each piece. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/category/art/
